"Little Big Year," the book, is published

Ever since I was a kid, I have dreamed of being a writer. In 1991, Adirondack Life magazine approached me about writing a story of kayaking on Lake George, New York. Since that entrée, I have written more magazine articles, columns, scientific papers, and even chapters in books. But a whole book has eluded me.

Until now!

Little Big Year: Chasing Acadia’s Birds was officially released yesterday! In this book, I chronicle both my 2018 exploits and the birds, seeing how many species I could find in Hancock County, Maine. Each chapter represents a day of birding, discussing the new “year birds” I found, weaving in fun facts and my experiences with the species. This is a combination of autobiography and travelogue as it is a series of essays. I wrote the book in my story-telling style.

For now, it can only be ordered online at https://www.amazon.com/dp/0578820099?ref_=pe_3052080_397514860.
